obsecration

beware fools
one fool can sink a ship of wisemen
fools are bold
theyll try to get everything
some fools know theyre fools
some fools are so fucking foolish
their own idiocy is obscured from them
some fools want to do that same old dance
other fools think eating duck liver pate is "civilized"
i knew a fool who fooled himself
and then he turned around
and fooled a whole lot of other fools too
a very big fool imagined that his "rebirth"
(a kind of metaphysical "get out of jail free" card)
in some phoney hokey localised bullshit religion
could justify a coffinload of war
he imagined his "sins" were wiped from some slate
he had never really understood the word karma
but even if he had been able...he would have rejected it
another confederation of dunces thought they could unleash mayhem
because they thought their "good book" said so
fools say where is god?
i cannot see god!
god is the perfect proportion
god is the silence as the earth revolves perfectly thru space
god never says kill
god says let it live!
if he says anything......
god is the perfect healthy child
god is the old kind man
god is in healing
god is in beauty and symmetry and harmony
god is within the system within the system
god is everything...
but the fools say
yes but you see......
and yes
ok
i am also a fool
i let this petty world drag me down and in
i listen to fools
i talk to fools
i am swayed by fools
this foolish swaying world of men
money money money
i love it
i loathe it
what the hell is it even?
the potential to own stuff?
i just walked into all this accidentally
i was born
and then someone had already decided that
i would go to school
i would learn this and i would unlearn that
i would write cursive script with my right hand
and sing god save the fucking queen everymorning
someone had decided that i'd wear a uniform
and someone decided to feed me meat everywhere i went
before i was old enuff to really understand the true HORROR
of the animal corpse industry
someone decided i had to learn mathematics
and sit for permanent-nightmare inducing external exams
someone decided i should do an iq test
and even when they realised i was "genius"
they still decided more stuff for me
and then a succession of dentists
decided it was ok to fill my fucking mouth up with quicksilver
onlyone of the deadliest poisons there is...!
(hiya freddy mercurial!!)
and then someone decided that the stuff i liked was illegal!
do you mean theyll deprive me of my liberty if i smoke dope???
yes sir,
ask the thousands n thousands in u.s. jails right now!
oh but you cant...
cos theyre locked away...
for their own good
you see
smoking dope might be bad for you
we're not sure actually
but in case it is
we gonna lock you up if you do it
and we gonna take away the electric cars
and we gonna give big fat contracts
to big fat nasty men
secretive furtive rich men
men who make more in one month
than everybody here will in all our lifetimes
and everywhere
the fools
blowing up synagogues and mosques
saying guns dont cause DEATH
saying" fuck 2030, cos i'll be dead by then"
fools dream up things like smart bombs
and then drop them all over suburbs of foriegn cities
killing any old body till they get the "terrorists"
fools really believe they are right
fools believe they know whats best for you and me
fools are often very bossy
fools are often very cowardly
but they like to say big tough things
if its other peoples arses on the line
what a shame what a shame
same old same old same old
william the conqueror
napoleon bonaparte
lord kitchener
all just fools getting other fools killed
and some of us fools
well
i know its a cliche
but we just wanted to live...
everytime i think of ww1
all that pain
all that agony
all that blood
all those tears
all those widows
all those cripples
all those corpses
why
why
why
do you know?
i dont
but some fool was real sure
once upon a time
this now we live in
will be someone elses
once upon a time
and some fool in that future
he'll talk about us
and he'll ask
why was it like that?
why did those fools do this?
and they'll all say
i dunno

I dunno.

I guess that's what most people say too, isn't it? When one becomes even only vaguely aware of the machinations of governments, one is condemned to a feeling that no progress in the areas of which you speak seems possible in our lifetimes.

Lord, I worry for my kids.....

It's a rainy Friday in Sydney. Seems to suit the blog today.

Have as nice a weekend as you can, y'all.

I can't agree more with you on this blog Steve..I rave to myself about the fools who give $23 MILLION a year to a bigger fool as CEO of Macquarie Bank, who is responsible for the demise of dozens of small businesses because he ok's some frigging great megamart to sell crap cheap and then finances projects overseas to rape rain forests.

My thoughts on wars are very much in line with you too..to read the history of WW1 and our 'gallant' generals Haig and Kitchener, who sacrificed our descendants blood and flesh to fertilise the fields of Flanders should be warning enough to todays warmongering pollies and generals.

I came out here from 'ye 0lde country' in '49 when I was 4..played triangle in my first band in kindie, then progressed to bass when I was 17...been playin' all these years and will be when they turn on the burners at the Crem!

Love reading your 'diary'...hope you keep it going.

BTW I know one of the Crunches rather well...love (most) of your music man..

Take care

My country is run by a whole disgusting cabal of idiots and fools. Why people allow it, why they listen to the fabricated crap and propaganda - I don't understand it; I cannot fathom it. It's depressing, and I shake my head and wonder if it will ever change. People here are so insulated from reality, they think their protected suburban cocoons are reality. They have no idea what's really going on, and don't seem to or want to care. My father worked as an aerospace engineer for Lockheed when I was growing up - I had no idea that he was going to this place every day that designed and built machines raining death and destruction on poor people living somewhere in southeast asia. The reality of it was concealed from me. I suspect it is for many others too even today. It seems some of the worst people rise to he positions of leadership - government and business.

I'm ranting, but I can identify with your blogge today.

The band Morphine ....I love them. I had a dose of what they're named after and it was a better high than anything I've ever. Should I be telling you this or is it something you know? What drug would you name your band after? silly question- the Morphine made me do it.

This is a poem my English father wrote. He was a child in London during wwII:

Dr Coltart (December 1940)

‘Ye’ve been a brave gurrl, I’ll
give you something furr the pain’
said Dr Coltart to my mother after
I’d torn her badly, he lived not far
down our street, after consultations
gave me black glucose – ‘verra rarre,
Tony,’ one evening (diphtheria shot)
he boiled Mum’s best saucepan dry
sterilizing his syringe, in the blitz
his big surgery took a direct hit, and
one of his iron tennis-posts impaled
our lawn, he and wife were buried alive
in their cellar, but next morning
ARP men dug them out unscratched
though plastery, next Friday they went
to see their daughters, evacuated down
with their school to Dorset, two trains
on the foggy GWR ran into each other
she was beheaded, he torn in half

You would have loved a segment on MSNBC here in the US last night, on Keith Olberman's show, Countdown. It was tagged as Special Comment. After Olberman was done speaking, I believe that our esteemed commander-in-chief had room for an eggplant, several large zucchini and possibly a baseball bat in his anal cavity. Can't say I've ever had the desire to see/hear such a thorough reaming of a human bean before, but I was positively gleeflul afterwards. Someone should get you a tape of that.

Olberman would no doubt be happy to buy you a soy latte, Mr K. And probably brunch as well. You guys would bond. Maybe someone YouTubed it.

and we're all obviously quite happy to have it on a daily basis...
'cept for some ungrateful anons, but screw their bitter souls...
what i'm saying is, i can't begrudge you for wanting a break or an end or whatever...
BUT, could you take this ship through the holly daze???
some transcendant stuff last year at that time....
not to put any pressure on or nothin'... -_-

good to see a full slate of gigs lined up,

Freakin' well scares the bejesus out of me! Benjamin Franklin said a lot of things about fools including something like, 'there is no place in the world that can protect a fool from their own folly' - except (may I had) the Whitehouse! No wonder most of the seppoes don't get irony. Here's another quote, this one's from Harold Pinter. I heard an interview with him recently and he read a short poem he wrote called 'Democracy', from memory it goes like this.

Democracy

Make no mistake,
the big pricks are out.
They'll fuck everything in sight,
Watch your back.

Again, scared the livin' Christ out of me.

Thanks for today's blog Steve.

Another quote to finish off with although I'm not sure who said this one but I think it is apt in relation to today's blog, 'If we don't write about Hiroshima we'll end up in Hiroshima'. Thanks again

I'm goin' home to see my kids.

Ah dear thing, you just gotta hang on to hope, there are so many good people working to make things good. I'm one of them. We're everywhere.

March tomorrow for our planet in your brightest clothes, embrace your partner and your girls.....do you have a jacaranda tree nearby? Our front yard is a purple carpet.

Just call me Pollyanna.

Here's a poem for you (it's an oldie, but a greatie) by the awesome Maya Angelou, poet, actress, veteran civil rights movement worker:

"Still I rise

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like the moon and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own backyard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gift that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise."

i can only save me from myself and im the only danger unless the truth that now is(wisdom) exists within me. nothing true about the past or future, leaving no image apart from the omniprescense(god) that is the time being. sad so many are caught against their own image, fearing their wrongs in attempt to supress shame, the very element needed to identify your relunctance to loose control of whats binding. god is everything at this moment and nothing else, and as you mentioned in a earlier blogge, we all need some fine tuning to gaze upon all that is..

In the gaps between the ediface of our understanding
Run little lanes of the unknown
Where a fog of ignorance often seeps
But where the sparks of possibility can fall in fountains
These lanes are where magicians open their gloomy little shops
Where you can wander in and wonder in.
And where the cutpurse, cardsharp, and charlatan ply their filthy little trades
Among the gawping throng
Whose attentions are mostly distracted
By the architecture of our culture
Looming heavily above them
Between their birth and the sky.
We live out our lives in these lanes
And we hurry and bustle our way through them
Hoping to find a grand and gilt-edged door
So we can go inside
Out of the cold and uncertain streets
Into the mirrored elevator
Up to the very top of the tower
To warm ourselves in the reflected majesty of Great Knowledge,
But if you stop and ask directions...
Sharks circle
Wolves smile
And foxes lick their lips
In anticipation of another feast of questing flesh.
Far better to pay attention to the signs
All around us
And to find a more modest little door
Leading to the stairs
Down to the cellar
Of wonder.

you are correct sir!!! you know maybe pot is bad for us??? but that's no reason...cigarettes are definately bad, they're legal. it's funny or sad, that the people who use god to start their wars over here, and for any other purpose they want, and truly believe everything was put on the planet by god. those are the people who refuse to see the plant has some very fine purposes. it should all be ripped from the earth. but if the drug companies come out with some new cure or fix...it's out there immediately. the party that wants no abortion for any reason...cause it's murder...is pro war. how many people have bush and his buds killed? granted, i don't think anyone is yeah! abortion, whoo hoo! but if you run the country like god's on your side, well isn't god against all murder? all jesus taught was love...damn hippy.
sorry about my rant...elections are next tuesday. if you've seen the bombardment of ads here...it's insane! if you live here, vote. if you don't, wish for change!
peace and down with the fools.

Yes, Charles Taylor is a fucking prick. Gives carte blanche to timber companies, handing them the keys to S.E. national forests. How does he keep getting re-elected? We got 'em here in GA too, like Charlie Norwood, another rape-it-count-the-money prick. Too many people swallow the red herrings and don't care what's really going on.

Some of your previous entries mention the a foolish thing that America has namely unclean garbage strewn needle smelling of piss streets and parks. Of course we're trying to help the fool who languishes there. We chase them, we offer them kindness of shelter, food, psych, medical, money. They're the most dejected 'fools' if you will that I can think of that rome the planet.

Keep praying to the Goddess Laxmi for financial well being for yourself and them. A form of materials, healthy finances are nothing to be ashamed of. It's not everything, but it certainly helps. I pity the poor fool who blah blah blah this and that.

WWI WAS engineered by "the bankers"
US Federal Reserve was created in 1913. Yada yada yada. It's not that fools lead their people into war, it's that people get fooled into war. There's no better example than Iraq.

Think about it - does ANYTHING big happen around here if the people with money aren't interested in it happening? Could it have been any different back then?
